Valentine’s Day has a way of bringing out the crafty side in people. Kids get to work crafting and creating hand-cut heart cards for friends and family. And crafters carefully design the perfect cards to make their loved ones feel appreciated. And on this Valentine’s Day, we want to show some love to one of our dotbloggers.
One of the things that we love about blogging is the way that blogs allow people to tell their stories and share their interests and passion with the world. And that’s also what we love about cutcardstock.blog! In this Meet the Bloggers post, we want to introduce you to the inspiring story of how one woman saw a gap in a hobby she enjoyed and grew it into a prospering business.
Meet cutcardstock.blog
Darrell and Cindy Crots are the couple behind the blog and business cutcardstock. The story of how they started their business is one that we’re excited to share with other bloggers.
Cindy was a stay-at-home mom looking to make a little extra money. She noticed that paper suppliers didn’t give the option of buying cardstock in sizes smaller than 8.5×11. So she got to work from her dining room table cutting cardstock. She would make special cuts for people and then deliver them to a local paper company who would ship the product to their own customers.
The demand continued to grow so Cindy and Darrell continued to grow the business along with it. Eventually, Darrell quit his job and the two of them took their business from a part-time side hustle to full-time careers.
The small business that started at their dining room table is now running out of a 5,500 square foot warehouse, employing a small team of people, and serving tens of thousands of customers!
How cutcardstock uses their blog
Not only do we love the story of how cutcardstock has grown, we also love the way they’re putting the .blog domain to work for them.
Their shop is located at cutcardstock.com but they blog at cutcardstock.blog. The two sites work together seamlessly allowing customers to easily move from one to the other.
Their creative blog is full of craft ideas! Each post shares pictures of the craft design and the steps that anyone can follow to create the same project. And the best part is that they specifically share what cardstock you’ll use to complete the project, complete with links back to the shop so you can purchase everything you need.
They have a team of designers that are writing these blog posts. You can see the pictures of the designer along with a little snippet about each of them. It really helps to personalize their brand which makes it easier for customers to engage.
A great example for new bloggers
Cutcardstock.blog shows how a business can effectively add a .blog domain to benefit their existing website. They use their blog to show they are the experts in the field and build trust with their customers. They connect with a niche audience and then provide them with both the ideas and products they need to enjoy the hobby they love.
They are also a great example of how you can make money blogging. On the blog next week, we’ll be sharing some more examples of how you can do the same.
To continue spreading the love on Valentine’s Day, here are some of the other blogs that we’ve highlighted recently:
Next up on the Meet the Bloggers Series we’ll be jumping into the world of food and health blogging. But until then, we encourage you to check out the projects on cutcardstock.blog!
